Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) proudly announces its outstanding success at the 34th International Invention, Innovation & Technology Exhibition (ITEX 2023) held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on 11-12 May 2023. UNITEN garnered an unprecedented number of medals, including a coveted Best Woman Inventor award, solidifying its position as a leader in groundbreaking inventions.

The university’s talented researchers were honored with nine Gold medals and four Silver medals. The recipients of the Gold medals were Ts. Dr. Ean Lee Woen, Dr. Firas Basim Ismail, Ts. Dr. Ing Zarina Itam, Prof. Ts. Dr. Manjit Singh Sidhu, Gs. Ts. Nazirul Mubin Zahari, Gs. Ts. Dr. Nor Hazwani Nor Khalid, Rositah Bakar, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Salina Daud, and Siti Fara Fadila Abd Razak. The Silver medals were awarded to Dr. Abbas Mohammed Ali Al-Ghaili, Ts. Dr. Hairoladenan Kasim, Ts. Dr. Salmia Beddu, and Ts. Dr. Sharul Azim Sharudin.
Notably, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Salina Daud, a distinguished researcher from UNITEN’s College of Business Management and Accounting, received the esteemed Best Woman Inventor award at the ceremony. Her groundbreaking entry, titled “Consumer Lifestyle Energy Calculator (CLEC),” showcased her exceptional vision and innovation in empowering individuals to make sustainable energy choices.
“This remarkable achievement at ITEX 2023 is a testament to UNITEN’s unwavering commitment to advancing knowledge and fostering innovation,” said Prof. Ir. Dr. Noor Azuan Abu Osman, Vice-Chancellor of UNITEN. “I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the winners who have once again demonstrated the exceptional talent and dedication that thrives within our institution. Their remarkable inventions pave the way for future excellence in research at UNITEN, and I am confident that they will continue to contribute significantly to the betterment of society.”
