Putra Heights (7 April 2025) – In the spirit of compassion and community resilience, Tropicana Foundation, the charity arm of Tropicana Corporation Berhad (“Tropicana” or “Group”), extended a helping hand to families impacted by the recent gas pipeline fire in Putra Heights. Today, the Foundation contributed RM50,000 in cash as well as essential supplies to support the families affected. The donation, channeled through the DAP donation drive that began on 2 April 2025 and runs until 9 April 2025. A full donation report will be made publicly available on DAP’s social media platforms to ensure transparency and accountability. Funds will be distributed at the end of the one-week campaign, with allocations based on official damage assessments.

During the cheque handover this morning, Tropicana Group CEO, Datuk Mark Rozario shared, “Through Tropicana Foundation, our immediate priority is to alleviate the burden of the affected families and to show our strong support to them. Tropicana Foundation donated RM50,000 in cash as well as dry goods and other daily necessities. As we made our way to the temporary relief centre at Putra Heights Mosque, it was heartwarming to see Malaysians of all walks of life stepping up—some dropping off food packs, others offering comfort. To us, big or small, every contribution makes a difference.”

This is an important time for us to come together to show our support in alleviating their burden, and through this special fund, we will make it easier for the public to contribute.”

According to various news sources, the gas pipeline fire, which broke out on 1 April 2025, saw flames reach up to 30 meters high and temperatures rise to around 1,000 °C. It took nearly 8 hours to bring the blaze under control. In total, 87 houses were destroyed and deemed uninhabitable, while 150 more sustained partial damage. Affected families are being housed at the temporary relief center (“PPS”) at the Putra Heights Mosque, and contributions are pouring in from corporations and individuals showcasing the Malaysian spirit of generosity.

Aligned with Tropicana’s mantra of sharing, caring and giving, the Tropicana Foundation has been giving back to the community since its inception in 2011. To date, the Foundation has contributed more than RM56 million in aid and support, touching lives across Malaysia.
