KUALA LUMPUR, 7 April 2025 – The Democratic Action Party (DAP), through two of its Central Executive Committee (CEC) members, Syahredzan Johan and Young Syefura Othman, today issued a media statement expressing gratitude for the trust placed in them by the party’s delegates to continue serving.

According to the joint statement, the support received from DAP delegates demonstrates that the party remains open to selecting Malay candidates, in line with the spirit of inclusivity that underpins DAP. “We wish to extend our highest appreciation to the DAP delegates for this trust. It proves that DAP faces no barriers in choosing Malay candidates,” the statement said.

Syahredzan, who is also DAP’s National Vice Chairman, together with Young Syefura, the Assistant National Publicity Secretary, reaffirmed the party’s commitment to upholding the Federal Constitution. This includes the position of Islam as the religion of the Federation, the special privileges of Malays and the indigenous peoples of Sabah and Sarawak, while ensuring the rights and interests of all races are defended fairly.

The statement also highlighted the presence of Malay leaders at various levels within DAP—from branch leaders to the highest committee—as concrete evidence of the party’s inclusivity and openness to all races. “DAP is a party for all, and this is proven by the participation of Malay leaders at every level of leadership,” they added.

In efforts to bolster support, both leaders pledged to continue engaging with the Malay community and expanding the party’s influence among diverse ethnic and religious groups. They also praised the growing interest among young people, particularly Malay youth and women, who are increasingly joining DAP. “We will continue to encourage new participation, especially from the Malay community, as long as they share the party’s principles and struggles,” the statement noted.

Under the leadership of DAP Secretary-General Anthony Loke Siew Fook, the party is also committed to strengthening its position to face future challenges. “May DAP continue to flourish under this new leadership,” the statement concluded.

Issued in Kuala Lumpur today, this statement marks a strategic step by DAP to reinforce unity and multi-racial support in the years ahead.
