Istanbul, April 23, 2025 – Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Dato' Sri Fadillah Yusof visited the Karpowership dockyard in Istanbul on Wednesday, engaging with the Turkish company keen on investing in Malaysia and sharing expertise in power generation, particularly for Sabah.
Karpowership, part of the Karadeniz Energy Group, is a global leader in mobile electricity generation, providing floating power plants to energy-scarce nations.
These plants, converted from cargo ships, generate and supply electricity using fossil fuels, primarily natural gas or heavy fuel oil.
The company’s innovative vessels serve as mobile power stations, capable of delivering energy using natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), and other fuels, offering flexible solutions for regions in need.
During the visit, Fadillah toured the ship construction and assembly site, witnessing firsthand Karpowership’s capabilities in energy supply.
Accompanying the Deputy Prime Minister was Puan Mareena binti Mahpudz, Deputy Secretary-General (Energy) of Malaysia’s Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA).
The visit underscores Malaysia’s interest in exploring cutting-edge energy solutions to address domestic power needs, particularly in underserved regions like Sabah.
