Malaysia Fully Supports Formation of Pro-Palestine Parliamentary Group

ISTANBUL, 20 April 2025 – Malaysia has expressed strong support for the establishment of a parliamentary group advocating for the rights of the Palestinian people, said Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat, Tan Sri Johari Abdul, during a roundtable discussion here. He described the initiative as timely and progressive, reflecting the increasingly responsive role of Parliament in addressing humanitarian and global justice issues.

According to Johari, this group not only strengthens parliamentary institutional reform but also serves as a platform to champion universal humanitarian values that demand global solidarity. “Parliament is no longer just a place for law-making but a stage to voice justice for issues like Palestine,” he emphasized.

He also urged that the group be inclusive, involving parliaments from various countries, not just Islamic nations. “The Palestinian issue is a humanitarian one, not solely religious or political. Global participation will strengthen the message of solidarity,” he said.

Johari stressed that this effort must be sustained with consistent and strategic actions to ensure the Palestinian struggle continues to gain international attention until justice is achieved.
