Klang Royal City Council Bans Foreign Workers in Stalls Starting June 2025

KLANG April 19, 2025 — The Klang Royal City Council (Majlis Bandaraya Diraja Klang) has announced a new regulation affecting all tenants of council stalls and kiosks, including food and beverage vendors in public markets.
Effective June 1, 2025, stall operators will be prohibited from employing foreign workers, including permanent residents, as assistants.

According to the directive issued by Datuk Bandar MBDK, all stall assistants must be Malaysian citizens and registered with the council.
The council urges tenants to comply with the new rule and has expressed hope for smooth cooperation.
