ASEAN-China Media and Think Tank Forum Successfully Held in Kuala Lumpur

KUALA LUMPUR, 11 April 2025 – The ASEAN-China Media and Think Tank Forum was successfully held today in the capital city, jointly organized by the Malaysian National News Agency (BERNAMA) and Xinhua News Agency under the auspices of the Ministry of Communications. The event aimed to strengthen regional cooperation between ASEAN countries and China.


Themed “Strengthening ASEAN-China Cooperation,” the forum was officiated by Deputy Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Haji Fadillah Yusof. In his opening speech, he reaffirmed the Malaysian government’s commitment to fostering dialogue and multilateral cooperation to address regional and global challenges.


“Our cooperation must remain dynamic, visionary, and impactful to shape the future of ASEAN-China relations,” he said, emphasizing the importance of delegates’ contributions in advancing a shared vision for regional prosperity.

The event saw the participation of approximately 250 representatives from over 160 media organizations, think tanks, government agencies, and companies from ASEAN countries and China. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions on three key topics aimed at reinforcing regional commitment.


The forum aligns with the core principles of Malaysia MADANI, which promotes a culture of knowledge and diversity of perspectives, while serving as a strategic platform to explore opportunities for closer cooperation.


Also in attendance were Minister of Communications Datuk Fahmi Fadzil; Deputy Minister of Communications Teo Nie Ching; Secretary-General of the Ministry of Communications Datuk Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa; Editor-in-Chief of Xinhua News Agency Mr. Lyu Yansong; BERNAMA Chairman Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai; BERNAMA Chief Executive Officer Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin; and BERNAMA Editor-in-Chief Arul Rajoo Durar Raj.
