PETRA will provide electricity via solar system at Berasau Orang Asli village

KLUANG, JOHOR, August 17 2024 – Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA) will provide electricity via solar system and build a Community Centre in Berasau Orang Asli village. This will benefit 70 residents or 20 families with the support from SEDA Malaysia and Public Works Department (JKR) Malaysia.

Dato’ Haji Mad Zaidi bin Mohd Karli, Secretary General PETRA during his visit to the village stressed that it is the Ministry’s responsibility to make sure that people get the basic electricity supply because it is an important need in daily Life.

“The launch of this main infrastructure and social development project is under the Kampung Angkat MADANI initiative introduced in the 2024 budget. This program aims to improve the standard of basic services such as water, electricity and public facilities through whole of Government approach.

The implementation of these initiatives involve a multi agencies cooperation between the Government and local authorities such as  Johor JAKOA, Kluang District JAKOA Centre, Johor State Development, KKDW Johor, Johor’s Economic Planning Division, the Kluang Land Office and Central Johor Forestry Office,” said PETRA.

PETRA has identified the main needs of villagers at Berasau Orang Asli Village, including the provision of electricity supply facilities through a solar system and the construction of a Community Centre by building an integrated photovoltaic system concept. The centre will be the main venue for community activities and gatherings.

Aside from these infrastructure projects, PETRA has also plans to hold a community activities with the villagers, to strengthen the bond between PETRA and the locals.
