KUALA LUMPUR, 22 March 2025 – The National AI Office (NAIO), launched under the Ministry of Digital on 12 December 2024, today marks its first 100 days of driving Malaysia’s AI transformation. In this period, NAIO has advanced four key pillars: AI for the People, AI for a Stronger Economy, AI for Trust & Governance, and AI Talent for National Progress.
AI for the People
NAIO is enhancing public services, healthcare diagnostics, and agricultural solutions, bringing tangible benefits to Malaysians. “AI must serve the rakyat,” said Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo, emphasizing its role in communities and industries.
AI for a Stronger Economy
Strategic partnerships with industry leaders are boosting AI adoption in agriculture, healthcare, transport, education, and SMEs, positioning Malaysian businesses for regional and global competitiveness.
AI for Trust & Governance
NAIO has progressed on its 7 Deliverables, including the AI Technology Action Plan (2026–2030), a regulatory framework, and a Code of Ethics, ensuring a secure and ethical AI ecosystem alongside robust data privacy measures.
AI Talent for National Progress
Through the AI@Work for MyGovUC platform with Google Cloud, over 400,000 civil servants across 23 ministries and 201 agencies are using AI tools, saving 3.25 hours weekly per officer, per the Jabatan Digital Negara (2024) report. NAIO’s collaboration with the Malaysia Artificial Intelligence Consortium (MAIC) and Microsoft aims to upskill 800,000 individuals by year-end, while a new Digital AI Literacy Framework is embedding AI education in schools.

“Malaysia will not just use AI but create it,” Gobind said, underscoring ambitions to lead regionally in AI innovation, jobs, and productivity. NAIO’s efforts signal a sustainable, inclusive AI-powered future for the nation.
