PUTRAJAYA, 21 March 2025 – The government remains dedicated to bolstering the nation’s aviation industry and ensuring Malaysia retains its position as a leading aviation hub in the region.

Today, Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) announced an order for 30 Boeing 737 aircraft, comprising 18 units of the 737-8 model and 12 units of the 737-10 model, as the latest addition to Malaysia Airlines’ fleet.

This strategic investment aims not only to modernize the country’s aviation fleet but also to enhance operational efficiency, improve the passenger experience, and support the growth of the tourism and trade sectors.

With deliveries scheduled before 2030, this move is expected to propel Malaysia’s economy by creating job opportunities, empowering the aviation industry, and boosting global competitiveness.

Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasized the significance of Malaysia Airlines beyond its role as an airline.

“Malaysia Airlines is not just a company; it is a national pride, carrying the spirit of Malaysia and showcasing the nation to the world. With the addition of these new aircraft, we will ensure our national airline continues to progress and operate effectively,” he said.

He also extended congratulations to Malaysia Aviation Group, Boeing, and CFM International for achieving this milestone, describing it as a highly significant step forward for the country’s aviation sector.
