MALACCA, 20 March 2025 – Dato’ Seri Tiong King Sing, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, emphasized that the success of the #VM2026 initiative hinges on the vital roles played by representatives from government agencies, tourism associations, airlines, hotel operators, tourism product operators, and local travel agents. He described their presence and cooperation as the backbone of efforts to position Malaysia as a premier tourism destination and bolster the nation’s economy.

Speaking at an engagement session, the minister urged all representatives to actively contribute by offering insights, suggestions, and full support to accelerate the growth of the tourism sector. He highlighted past successes, such as the “Tahun Melawat Melaka” initiative, as evidence of what can be achieved with collective effort.

“With the spirit of ‘Mana Lagi, Melaka Ler,’ we can attract tourists from around the world and drive economic growth through increased visitor numbers, tourism revenue, and expanded business opportunities for hawkers, restaurants, and roadside stalls,” he said.

Tiong stressed that close collaboration between the federal government, state authorities, and the private sector—particularly government agency representatives, tourism associations, airlines, hoteliers, tourism product operators, and local travel agents—is the key to the program’s success. He underscored the need for all sectors to maintain high standards, from enhancing service quality to ensuring tourist safety and satisfaction, which he described as critical to advancing the country’s tourism industry.

The minister also expressed gratitude to Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Utama Ab Rauf Yusoh and Dato Wira Abdul Razak Abdul Rahman, the state EXCO for Tourism, Heritage, Arts, and Culture, for their unwavering commitment to supporting strategic initiatives in Melaka.

“Their assistance, combined with the dedication of representatives from various agencies and sectors, proves that with solid cooperation, we can elevate Melaka and Malaysia to the pinnacle of the global tourism map,” he noted.

He framed #VM2026 as more than just an event, calling it a national mission to set new benchmarks in the tourism industry through innovation, sustainability, and uncompromising collaboration.

“Let us work together to unlock the nation’s full potential, ensuring every tourist enjoys the best experience while driving continuous economic growth,” he urged.

Tiong concluded by thanking all stakeholders for their support and commitment to this ambitious endeavor.
