SUNGAI PETANI, 17 March 2025 – Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, Advisor to the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Management Committee, has urged party members in Kedah and Perlis to approach the upcoming party elections with maturity and a democratic spirit, ensuring it does not become a source of division.
He made the remarks after attending an iftar event in Padang Serai and subsequently joining a moreh session with the Kedah & Perlis PKR State Leadership Council in Sungai Petani yesterday. Ahead of the party elections, Saifuddin called on all members to campaign cleanly, uphold decorum, and respect fellow party comrades.
“We are no longer an opposition party; we now lead the government, with our party president serving as the Prime Minister of Malaysia. Every action and word of ours not only affects the party but also reverberates to the president,” he emphasized in a statement today.
He stressed the importance of healthy competition in the elections, welcoming anyone who wishes to contest.
“Celebrate democracy responsibly. I pray that the election process is smooth and that those elected are truly capable leaders who can strengthen the party for a brighter future,” he said.
Saifuddin also expressed gratitude to all who attended yesterday’s event, highlighting that such gatherings play a vital role in fostering camaraderie among party members. “God willing, we will continue to move forward with determination and unity,” he added, expressing optimism about PKR’s journey as a ruling party.
The moreh session served as a platform for PKR leaders and members in Kedah and Perlis to exchange views ahead of the elections, while reinforcing internal party solidarity.
