Puchong, April 2, 2025 – A recent gas pipe fire at Jalan Putra Harmoni, Putra Heights, has disrupted several nearby areas, including two villages within the Puchong parliamentary constituency, namely Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru and Kampung Tengah.
The Puchong Parliament Service Centre team, represented by the Batu 13 Puchong Village Unity and Development Committee (JPKK), acted swiftly to distribute food and essential supplies to victims housed at the Temporary Evacuation Centres (PPS) at Masjid Nurul Iman, Kampung Tengah, and Surau Usmaniah, Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru. The victims were later relocated to the PPS at Dewan Masjid Putra Heights, under the Kota Kemuning state constituency and Kota Raja parliamentary constituency.
Puchong Member of Parliament, Yeo Bee Yin, expressed her gratitude to the Prime Minister and the Menteri Besar for announcing allocations of RM5,000 for victims in the ‘total loss’ category and RM2,500 for affected families. She also announced an additional contribution from her office, providing immediate cash assistance of RM1,000 to each family in the ‘total loss’ category from both villages to address emergency needs.
“The distribution of the RM1,000 cash assistance will begin today. For victims still in their hometowns, we will arrange follow-up distributions,” said Yeo Bee Yin.
For victims in other categories, she stated that cash assistance would be distributed as soon as the latest verified data is obtained. For any emergency needs, victims can contact the JPKK Batu 13 Chairman, Tok Fiqrie, at 011-27217445.
“A sum of RM10,000 has been allocated for other emergency measures, and we are prepared to increase the allocation if necessary. Our team is committed to assisting,” she added.
Yeo Bee Yin emphasized that her office would continue to monitor the situation and ensure that aid reaches all those in need.
