KUALA LUMPUR, 2 April 2025 – The Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) conducted a special operation today, taking firm action against unlicensed foreign traders in several high-traffic areas of the capital. The operation targeted locations such as Jalan Petaling, Jalan Tun Tan Siew Sin, Jalan Leboh Pudu, Jalan P. Ramlee, Masjid Jamek, the area in front of KLCC, and the Pavilion Bukit Bintang shopping center.
As a result of the operation, 11 unlicensed business activities operated by foreigners were immediately seized. These activities involved the sale of clothing, food, and beverages, conducted without valid approval from the authorities.
According to DBKL, the action was carried out under the provisions of the Hawkers Licensing By-Laws (WPKL) 2016. All confiscated business items have been transferred to the DBKL Seizure Store at Jalan Lombong, Taman Miharja, Cheras, for documentation and further investigation.
In addition, static monitoring was also conducted by DBKL enforcement officers in collaboration with representatives from the Malaysian Immigration Department. This step aimed to ensure that no unlicensed trading activities, particularly by non-citizens, were taking place.
DBKL reaffirmed its commitment to continuously monitor these key areas to ensure compliance with the law and safeguard the well-being of city residents. The public is encouraged to report any information regarding unlicensed trading activities via the website https://adukl.dbkl.gov.my.
