KUCHING, 20 March 2025 – Mordi Bimol, the Member of Parliament for Mas Gading, reaffirmed that his commitment to the struggle of the people of Sarawak and the Dayak community remains unwavering, despite not securing a spot among the top 30 candidates in the Central Executive Committee (CEC) election during the 18th DAP National Congress.
In his statement, he expressed heartfelt gratitude to all delegates who voted for and supported him, while noting that he accepts the outcome with an open heart and respects the democratic process within the party. “Although I was not elected, I extend my congratulations to my fellow comrades who succeeded, and I am confident that this new leadership will continue to strengthen DAP and its reform agenda for the people of Malaysia,” he said.
Mordi also addressed the disappointment of some grassroots supporters, particularly in Sarawak, who had hoped for Dayak representation in the party’s top leadership. He clarified that the CEC election was conducted democratically through votes from delegates nationwide, with candidates assessed based on members’ confidence in their leadership, irrespective of race or religion.
“My struggle for the Dayak community and the people of Sarawak is not limited to a position in the CEC. I remain committed to bringing the people’s voice to Parliament, fighting for NCR land rights, rural development, and justice for all,” he asserted.
He further called on DAP members and supporters to unite in backing the newly elected leadership to continue the fight for a better future for all Malaysians. “We will move forward as one team,” said Mordi, who remains steadfast in his mission as a people’s representative.
