JAKARTA, INDONESIA, February 24, 2025 – Malaysia’s Home Minister, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, began a three-day working visit to Jakarta this morning by receiving a briefing from senior officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN), led by the ministry’s Secretary-General, Datuk Awang Alik Jeman.
The briefing session served as a preparatory step ahead of the Minister’s official series of meetings with Indonesian government leaders. These discussions aim to address matters related to the Home Ministry’s portfolio while following up on the official working visit of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Bapak Prabowo Subianto, to Malaysia in January.
Also present at the briefing was Malaysia’s Ambassador to Indonesia, TYT Dato’ Syed Mohamad Hasrin Tengku Hussin.
The session outlined several key issues, including immigration, border control, detainee management, and other topics of mutual priority for both nations.
In a post on his X page, Saifuddin emphasized that as countries sharing a common heritage, the close relationship between Malaysia and Indonesia is akin to one big family, which will continue to be strengthened for the benefit of the people of both sides.
“God willing, this cooperation will bring significant benefits to both nations,” he said.
The visit is expected to further bolster diplomatic ties and strategic cooperation between Malaysia and Indonesia in addressing shared issues related to security and the well-being of their citizens.
