KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA 19 February 2025 – The Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) is currently considering the necessity to establish a special court to handle cases under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (SOSMA).

The Minister of Home Affairs, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, during a briefing session about Sosma in the Dewan Rakyat, stated that this move would prevent those detained under Sosma from waiting too long and would address issues related to bail.

Meanwhile, as part of the review of Sosma, he mentioned that a new special committee would be formed to refine the suggestions received.

He said that the findings of this committee for amending Sosma would then be presented in Parliament during the upcoming session.

“The sooner this committee produces results, the sooner we can present them. We have the upcoming July session.

“Let this set a timeline to show that we are always open to improving legal policies, regulations, and efforts to strengthen security and public order,” he said.
